Johannes Matthaeus Koelz (1895-1971)
Welcome to the first website dedicated to the story of Johannes Koelz. Koelz is amongst the first group of 'suppressed' artists of the period who are now being reinstated and accorded due recognition. Indeed, his name is to feature in the next edition of the Allgemeines-Kunstlerlexikon – a German arts directory, published by K.G.Saur Verlag of Munich. This followed his first retrospective at Leicester City Museums in 2001.
